Take one sweet, little yoga studio in Sacramento on a Saturday afternoon between classes...

I also snagged some Willa Cather, Ernest Hemingway, and Anne Lamott, a Thai cookbook, and my very own Merck manual, which I cannot believe I have not owned until now.
The longer I lingered, the harder it was not to keep piling up the books. Good thing I had help getting that heavy box to the car! It came in the form of Tony and Tami, who I will refer to from now on as TNT.
...and add books. Lots of books. And all for the taking.
Pay five bucks (donated to the SPCA) and bring one book to get you in the door (though it looked like everyone brought at least a bagful). Add your books to the appropriate piles (memoirs, novels, non-fiction) and then take as many books as you like, swapping at will.
Brilliant, yes?
Just help yourself!
It was a hotbed of temptation for those with a history of book hoarding.

And today, I definitely let history repeat itself, starting at the cookbook table (duh), where I scored two books that have been on my radar lately: Secret Ingredients: The New Yorker Book of Food and Drink and The Williams-Sonoma Entertaining Cookbook.

The best way to follow up a fruitful book swap is with good friends and good food, so TNT and the latter T's husband Jed and I yapped over sandwiches and noodle salad at Cafe Bernardo followed by whoopie pies and lemon tarts at Magpie.
Friends, books, food. Brilliant!
